Katharine Hepburn: 1907 - 2003

Katharine Hepburn, the actress whose independent life and strong-willed movie characters made her a role model for generations of women and a beloved heroine to filmgoers for more than 60 years, died today at her home in the Fenwick section of Old Saybrook, Conn. She was 96 and also had a home in Manhattan.

I've always been mad about her, and always will be. \o/

Good actress. But she's had a very long life (96!) and according to imdb she was still working as late as 1994 (aged 87!). So instead of feeling sad about this, lets celebrate her career. :)

For me her best film has to be The African Queen, absolutely fantastic film; very funny and diservedly regarded as a classic of cinema.

Thanks for the link, Trep. As a relatively uncultured child, I've never seen anything Hepburn. But just the few photos and 3-second clips I've seen have been enough to communicate her charm, power, etc. I'm renting The Amazon Queen this week.
