Favourite music from an lec game

I could have merged this into the 'similar themes' thread but its not like we get that many threads on this forum so i'll keep them seperate.

What is your favourite music out of all the Lec adventures that you've played?

For me its Swanky Maximino from Grim. Its got a wonderful melody, a great beat, its played fantastically and it really sticks in your head. In short, its the greatest.

My second favourite would probably be the Rollercoaster of Death from CMI or Jojo's theme from MI2

Conversely, what is your most hated/the worst music from an lec game? Here I nominate cookchase. As anyone who went to a page they weren't allowed to access on Mojo 8 will know, its the most annoying thing ever. Gabez's speeded up midi version has been known to make grown men cry. Its just evil.

Hmm, so many to choose from...

Its hard to pick a single favourite, but Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island games comprise my collective favourites. In Grim Fandango my favourites are The Enlightened Florist and Beloved Sanspoof, the latter of which was shockingly not included on the official Soundtrack.

Obviously, the Monkey Island Theme is an instant classic, but some of the more subtle music in the Monkey Island series is to be found in CMI. My favourites are Puerto Pollo and almost all of the music to be found on Blood Island, especially The Goodsoup Hotel. And Monkey Island 2 was also full of great music, especially Woodtick and I also love the Scabb Island Overview.

In Monkey Island 2 (which has one of the best game soundtracks ever) I really like The Underground Tunnels music. It's great as a midi and even greater as the Underground Tunnels Remix.

In Indiana Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis I love Room Of The God Machine.

Let's not forget Outlaws over all the adventure games. It has superb music. "Anna's Theme" was always the best to me.

Ooh dear, this is going to be hard to choose.

In Grim Fandango, the Festival tune (heard more clearly in the credits) is absolutely awesome. I just love how it sounds, really puts me in a good mood.

Monkey Island has way too many brilliant pieces across the series to select a few prime ones, but among the top are Mr. Fossey from CMI, the Smugglers theme from CMI, Voodoo Dolly from Lechuck's Revenge and of course the main Monkey Island theme.

Underground Tunnels is the best in my mind, without question. Rollercoaster of Death would come in second place.

Worst... that's really hard to say. The only one I can think of is the fish store music from Escape From Monkey Island, just because it seems really flat and uninspired.

I like the scene in MI3 where LeChuck is telling Guybrush his plans, the music in it along with a couple of monkey sounds makes it quite sinister. I love it.

I also love the music in Grim Fandango when Glottis is driving the Bone Wagon in the Petrified Forest.

Also the music in the NES version of Maniac Mansion during the scenes with Dr Fred is cool.

Plus the Main theme for MI3. It's Proper Bo I tell thee}:¬)

I'd also tell you some music from other adventures but there not from LEC adventures

My favorites...

MI2 - all of Woodtick, Governor Phatt, Stan's, House of Mojo, Underground Tunnels

CMI - Puerto Pollo, at sea in Part III, Barbery Coast, Goodsoup Hotel, Rollercoaster of Death

EMI (yes, there are a few) - The Lawyers, Palace of Prostheses, Lucre Island overview (notice they're all on Lucre Island. Michael Land composed most of the Lucre tunes)

Grim - Maximino, The Enlightened Florist, Cafe Calavera, Festival, final cutscene, Hector's casino, Salvador's theme . . . the list goes on.

Least favorite - Stan's Theme in Monkey Island 1 CD. It just really grates on me.

Those parts were Clint actually. Land did most of the Melee cues, as stated in this interview.

Ah. I just got them mixed up. Don't ask me why, but I thought I remembered hearing that Land did Lucre. Either way, Lucre rocks, and Melee's tunes aren't bad either.

But Monkey Island's tunes were really lame (probably due to that new composer, who in my opinion should never be hired by LEC again).

Favorite LEC tunes?

A lot of them are from MI2 actually (Amiga version, natch):

Rapp Scallion's revival tune was really funky, but my absolute fave was the final tune during the confrontation with LeChuck and Guybrush... although only the first time around (after being caught by LeChuck a few times it bizarrely all messed up and sounded terrible!)

A lot of GF was sublime, too. Excellent stuff there.
