  1. I don't have a link yet, but I've just seen this pop up on twitter - Thoughts? EDIT - Official Statement from Disney Link
  2. THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY COMPLETES LUCASFILM ACQUISITION While not a press release from LucasArts I thought this worth posting as LucasArts is now owned by Disney instead of George Lucas. At this point it's anyone's guess as to what will happen with LucasArts, LucasArts's existing games, contracts, website, Star Wars fan forums like this one and games in development. But considering how poorly LucasArts has performed over the last few years or so I'm hopeful that things won't get any worse.
  3. LucasArts' demise is still fresh in everyone's minds and you might wonder if another look into LucasArts' history is worth it. Well, Gameinformer's LucasArts Post-mortem article "Fall Of The Empire: How Inner Turmoil Brought Down LucasArts" is definitely worth the read. It goes into the mismanagement, the unrealistic ambitions, George Lucas crazyness and more! Some quotes: On Jim Ward: On Lucas' imput: On what could have been: On LucasArts' relationship with the defunct Battlefront III project's Free Radical: And there's so much more George Lucas madness and tragic anecdotes. "B.J. Dart". Haha.
  4. (or how Warren Spector made Mickey Mouse awesome again) Source Warren Spector, who we all know was the lead creative force behind System Shock and Deus Ex (Both are must plays for FPS and RPG fans alike, to boot), seems to working on a new title at his Junction Point Studios. Spector sold JPS to Disney back in '07, but new info seems to reveal that the company hasn't been assimilated into the Disney technological gamut unlike other studios. "Epic Mickey" is the code name for the game in development at JPS. While the name sounds rather vague, the completely beautiful and equally impressive concept art seems to paint a much more mature theme of a Mickey Mouse-inspired steampunk world. While the concept sounds unfathomable, it seems to be a bizarre amalgamation of System Shock's cyborg variations with Disney characters: Show spoiler (hidden content - requires Javascript to show) First of all, I'm completely surprised that Disney would even allow this sort of stuff. Don't get me wrong; I love the concept, but it seems so unlike Disney to allow such a bizarre take on a franchise like this. This better not end up being canceled, goddammit.
