  1. Hiya! Been exploring thread after thread trying to find a fix. My problem is launcher runs fine, as soon as I hit "Play" the game opens up in full screen (Ebon Hawk image) and then comes up with "Star Wars: knights of the Old Republic has stopped working." This is a new computer. Running Vista Home Premium 32bit. Specs: Intel Pentium CPU G2030 @3.00GHz 4GB Ram 1TB hard drive Integrated graphics (updated drivers - still no change to game) Been through everything to try and fix the errors. Ran as win XP service pack 2 (service pack 3 isn't an option). Ran as Admin. Downloaded mss32.dll and replaced. Checked through all my drivers (none of which needed updating). The error popping up on the "Stopped working" page is this: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: swkotor.exe Application Version: 1.0.3.0 Application Timestamp: 00000000 Fault Module Name: StackHash_0590 Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00000000 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0590 Additional Information 2: 2163c14648d4e9703b723817887acf0e Additional Information 3: b7b4 Additional Information 4: b0b4dda6ba8a01cc4cb0fa458f675872 Read our privacy statement: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=50163&clcid=0x0409 Any other suggestions to get this working!! I could downgrade to XP but I don't particularly want to. EDIT: Just realised my graphics driver wasn't installed properly. If problem persists after installation I will post again. EDIT 2: Graphics installed. Now coming up with Disk Emulation Error.
  2. Ok, let me explain as simply as I can. I have a laptop that is pretty good. It is about two years old. When I first got the laptop from NEC,(because I live in Japan) it had Vista on it with NEC provided drivers. The computer reported that it had Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset installed. With this set up Kotor 1 (as well as many other games that I love from Oblivion to phantasy star) worked great. I could play the game with the graphics set on high and I never had a problem. I don't remember if I had to do anything special to get the game to work I just remember that it worked and my son was happy to cut down sand people with a lightsaber. I brought a copy of Kotor 2 with me from America but I could never get it to work with Vista not matter how many times I reinstalled the game, moved dll files or what have you. It never worked. Then I upgraded my computer to Windows 7 so that I could change the system language from Japanese to English. (Don't ever use a pc that is not in your language, it is a massive headache) Of course with the new system still had the same hardware but now I was working with Windows 7 and a Microsoft provided graphics driver. After I set the computer up I tried to install Kotor 2 and what do you know, it worked. It wasn't perfect but it did work. There were lots of random crashes and sometimes the computer forgot to render the world so my character was running around in empty space but the game did work. After a while I figured out that I couldn't play for longer than about an hour at a time or the game would glitch and I needed to switch between the game and another application about every ten minutes for some reason or the game would crash but once I knew the tricks I was able to get through the game. After beating Kotor 2 a couple of time I decided to go back and play Kotor 1 again because some things HK said didn't seem to add up story wise and I wanted to check it out. But Kotor 1 would not work. I couldn't even get the game to start. It would install fine but I just couldn't get the game to run. I tried compatibility installing, moving dll files, replacing the EXE file, but nothing worked. Then I decided to go to Intel's website and download an updated graphics driver. With that Kotor 1 worked and I could play the game with graphics on high. But there was a problem, now Kotor 2 won't work anymore. It crashes if I load one of my game saves. If I start a new character I can get through character creation but when it starts to load the prologue the game crashes. So here is what I'm looking at with this machine: Vista with NEC provided graphics driver: Kotor 1 works great, Kotor 2 won't Windows 7 with Microsoft provided graphics driver: Kotor 1 won't work, Kotor 2 works with some problems but is playable, just don't use force sight, that crashes the game. Windows 7 with Intel provided graphics driver: Kotor 1 works great, Kotor 2 crashes after character creation The same machine is able to play both games but not at the same time apparently. I have done a lot of the suggestions here to get kotor 2 to work with the Intel driver but nothing works. I've reinstalled with compatibility mode, run as administrator, get a new EXE from securom but nothing works. Please HELP, I am about to pull my hair out. Now I have considered that this just might have to be the way things stay and in that case I am almost prepared to go out and buy a graphics card to update another computer I have so it can play both games but which of the currently marketed graphics cards will play them?
  3. I recently picked up the CD for Mortimer and the Riddles of the Medallion at a used game store, but I can't get it to run on Windows XP, even in Win95 compatability mode. I've done some searching and found a site where people are getting the same error, but I'm not finding a solution here on the forums. The error is: The procedure entry point SUnMapL5_IP_EBP_12 could not be found in KERNEL32.dll (or something close to that)
  4. Its finally GA! The word is that Microsoft got things on track since Vista, but the final verdict lies with the end users. Do you plan to get 7? Or are you one of those who'll stick it to the man with good ol' XP? Perhaps you were on of the "special" people, in which case you'd be saying "Hello again, 7"...? Will 7 have any notable effect on the OS market? Discuss. also, place bets on how many "micro$oft"s will be in thread [edit] New Question: What did Microsoft do for Launch Day in your country?
  5. Hi, I am eager to play good old TIE-FIGHTER again (I remember playing the floppy install version back in 1995/96) and have some questions: 1) Are there any actual LucasArts releases of the collector editions available (in the UK)? Or better have a look on ebay? 2) Are there any problems running TIE-FIGHTER and/or X-Wing on Vista and/or W7? What did you do to get the games run? I have a 64bit AMD CPU and an ATI HD4890 gpu. Thanks in advance... and may the force be with you!
  6. Hello, I have a downloaded version of Kotor 2 that i payed for and i ran it about 30 times and it always has the same error: "Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords has stopped working. I tried downloading the mss32.dll file from kotor 1 and putting it to my kotor2 directory but it didnt change a thing. I also tried contacting support@securom.com and this is my situation: They asked me to create a Analysis File. but for some reason, it doesnt work. They sent me a .exe file that runs the Analysis File maker thing. It asks me to run the game while the sr0_forcer.exe is running and NOTHING HAPPENED! So now i just sent them an email with a screenshot of the frozen screen and the error asking them if they could just send me the new .exe to fix my kotor 2. But what if they dont send it to me? What am i to do? PLEASE HELP ME!!! I WANNA PLAY THIS GOD DAMN GAME
  7. Ok, I am REALLY desperate. I want to play Star Wars Galaxies again (starting up a new account) and whenever I insert Disc 1 it encounters an error halfway through installation (some "Cyclic redundancy check" error that aborts the installation) and I don't know what to do! Please, I need help! I just want to play once again! It looks so fun! I'm close to crying! Help! By the way, I use Windows Vista. And I don't want to buy another copy because I blew $50.00 for Star Wars Galaxies: The Complete Online Adventures last year. So, help. Please. ASAP.
  8. When I try to install either Star Wars EaW or Star Wars Forces of Corruption, I get a Feature Transfer Error message telling me there is a Non Vista Feature and Non Vista Component. I have Windows XP home, so I'm not sure why I'm getting this message. Any advice?
  9. Hey guys. As you guys might know, I'm an avid Windows user, and Vista is no exception. However, one of Vista's big features is Windows ReadyBoost, and I haven't really tried it out until now. So, I have a 4 gig flash drive that is ReadyBoost enhanced and I also have an "Intel TurboCache" that is 1 gig that can be used for ReadyBoost as well (one of the options you can choose). Now, I was wondering which one I should use for ReadyBoost because I didn't know if the flash drive would be slower than the TurboCache (even though it had more space). In theory, which one would offer better performance? P.S. I don't need answers telling me that ReadyBoost doesn't offer much for performance upgrades, I just want to know which one would offer better performance. Thanks in advance!
