Corvus
When I save a game and want to load it again, the game freezes and I hear the sound in the background looping. I have to restart the PC since alt+ctr+del doesn't help me. However I can bypass this problem by quitting the game before loading a save game. But it sucks to always quit the game, start it again and load the save game, everytime you died by mistake The game also locks up when you finish a mission and it loads the next mission

I'm going to presume you're using a fresh, unmodified install of the legal, retail copy of the game and are not using a cd crack of any kind. If that's the case, e-mail me your specs, jaconfig.cfg and savegame and I'll look into it.
chfbtnka
I have the exact problem, and have seen a few other people with the same. http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php=&threadid=111440 Seems we all have AMD and Redeon in common. I have AMD 2800+ Radeon 9500 pro 1Gb DDR I doubt it is heat as some have suggested. I have never had a problem with heat before, even on more intensive games like unreal 2 or tron. Surly Chap
I too have the exact same problem. My Specs are: AMD 1600+ (1800mhz stable) Radeon 9700 Pro Win2k Pro 512MB DRR
InfamousAndy
Same here, legal copy and all. It affects both SP and MP. The first level or savegame always loads. There after, it randomly hard locks. It appears to actually load the level, but freeze immediately thereafter, sometimes with only "Objective updated" displayed, sometimes the first screen, but with white lightsabers, sometimes the first screen in its entirity. It freezes 75% of the time into a total hard lock. 808
I have the same problem too. I have a fresh install of the legal copy, the same thing happend with the demo. Most of the time the game will load but freeze with a blank grey screen and requires a hard reset. I have addressed the possibilty of heat by following all suggestions I've read in these forums but it still happens. I do not have this problem with other games such as IL2:FB, GTA:vice city, Toce Race Driver, BF1942, UT2003. Specs: XP 2600+ (266 FSB) Soltek SL-75DRV4 784Mb DDR 266Mhz RAM Windows XP SP1 Directx 9.0b ATI Radeon 9800Pro Audigy 1 Latest drivers for everything (including via all-in-one drivers). OmegaWarrior
I have the same problem, but i have a p4 not amd. legal copy shuttle sb61g2 p4 800 bus, 3.0 ghz ati 9700 pro aiw 1gb dual channel ddr 400 I am on catalyst 3.4 i believe. Sequence: load one mission (any mission, even one that is just cutscreens) finish mission, choose next 75% of the way through the load, it just stops, have to reboot. It seems like it is the point just before it is ready to show the initial cutscreen for the loading mission. Always happens.
OmegaWarrior
I was able to resolve the issue by turning off Dynamic Glow. Now, i can play for hours (at least until i run out of memory). What is with the memory leak? It looks like private bytes just climbs every time you load a level, and only releases some of the memory when the level is done. I went from 120 mb private bytes for all processes to 760 mb in less then two hours! And the only thing i was doing was playing the game! Crazy! Londo Mollari
I too have the hard crash problem. Especially when you quickload after you die, but it crashes randomly also. Starts to load level then either shows light brown screen with sound loop or pic of start level and sound loop . At this point only a hard reboot works. I finished the game but lord knows what's screwed up in my win XP Specs: P4 1.7Gz Radeon 9800 pro 128Mb 384 Ram Sb Audiology X-Gamer Dx 9.
Brodieman
This happened to me as well! If i disabled the soundcard it would work well but completely without sound I reinstalled old drivers mid-late 2002 version for my audigy and it worked! Of course outdated drivers now mean a lot of other games don't work
808
I've been in contact with Activision support and they told me that too many saved games may cause this freeze. Difficult to believe because Jedi Outcast bnever had the issue, but I deleted most of my save games and it still happens. Just had a look through the release notes for the new catalyst 3.8 drivers and they had a link to this issue: http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4271.html The say that the lockup seems to occur when you enable 4x and 6x antialiasing in the opengl control tab. They also said some people are fixing the problem by disabling dynamic glow in JA but I bought this 9800Pro for the eye candy, if I didn't want the eye candy I would've kept my old GF3! I've just tried changing my setting to 2x antial and it seems to work, not one lockup after trying to load 5 or 6 save games. I also managed to load 2 new levels and multiple cut scenes with no problem. The 3.8 catalyst drivers don't fix this, we have to wait for another release (I'm still using 3.7).
