GEEZus
I've been playing the game a lot the last two days and I think it's evident that the Linux dedicated is bugged. Lightning will kill insantly on a linux server and the server crashes randomly on the linux version. The windows version seems to be running fine because of the servers I have on my favorites list everytime I've checked the two windows servers have been up and I have yet to crash in either of them.. When I tried lightning on a windows server I created it didn't have the instant kill effect, but the last linux server I went into had the problem. Just thought I'd bring this to someone's attention so that we can hopefully see a fix if I am correct. Thnx in advance for looking into it if it's looked into... also sorry if someone already posted about this matter I didn't see any threads with the problems mentioned. I think some people have been having server issues but they hadn't yet linked them to the linux server. I think you may be right (I've been playing online, too). I'm talking to our lead programmer James Monroe about helping our linux version writer getting that all settled.
emorog
sigh. yes you are correct. in an effort to ensure we had compatible versions of code in the linux version, i missed out on a later linux fix involving invalid assumptions about the max return value for rand(). fixing now. hang in there. Nkosi
Thanks for your prompt attention to this! I run a linux dedicated server and have been having the same problems. Instant lightning kills and instant hilt kick kills and jump up kick kills. You might want to look into that. It's not a regular kick but just the hilt kick bash? and when jumps up from a knockdown with a kick will instantly kill another person. Master Nkosi Yeah, the linux version's random number function was returning HUGE numbers, so any damage that had a small bit of randomness to it was killing instantly. Also affects random sound variations. James is fixing this right now.
