tweedman
This is driving me absolutely insane. Ever since I got Comcast, my connection will get interrupted during JK2 games I have to reconnect. I will just be playing then something weird will happen light my lightning going off, it will say 'Connection Interrupted' and stay like that. The game continues on and I can see everyone else playing, I am just froze, what the hell?!!?!?!? Can't be my modem, I just got a new RCA. I also have a Linksys router. Anyone can please give me some suggestions before I have to shoot myself?
Silent Bob
Comcast probally gave you a refurbished modem. Tell them you want a new one and possibly a motorola. I got lucky when the service tech came to replace the line and he tried to give me the used one and that was still broken. Now I'm not getting the connection loss, But try to go to the lowest ping when connecting to a game.
tweedman
Got a new RCA modem and it STILL happens. It seems to happen whenever someone else connect to the game. UGH, no more JK2 for me.
Silent Bob
Check on google for some networking sites and look for CABLENUT(this helps define your registry settings for connections)
tweedman
Thanks bob, that definitely seemed to help, but right before I decided my connection was ok it happened again! Stupid comcast, I have no choice left but to have them test my line.
SephirothX
those people are always tricky... If they get too much of a pain, tell 'em to shove that line up their *couch*... However.. changing company might help? May the Ping Be With You
tweedman
I dunno I get great download speeds (near 4mbit) and alright upload, I don't seem to have a problem with other games, just JK2. Well as soon as I get JA cracked and running we'll see how that works.

SephirothX
Yeah.. I hate those tech help people... at work, we had to call a company called "Telnor" that is norwegian for "it does not work" an NT1 box (recives ISDN) had passed away due to a lightningstruck... we called the company and they asked what type of NT1 box it was... we said "blahblah"... "nope... that cannot be the NT1 box, look around the house, and call us back when you've found it"... It turned out that it was the NT1 box, and when we called back, we got a woman this time, when we told her what company that had produced the NT1 box she said "oh, yes that one" and it got solved at once... Stupid tech help... not this tech help...

tweedman
Nope I've stayed online forever in Medal of Honor. Can't be the router if the other computer is going thru it and still works fine. Maybe $20 via paypal if you can solve the problem will present some more motivation! Ok first of all I'm not gonna take you money to help you fix a problem. I'll try to help you for free ok. Now when you say you get interrupted, do you get any messages from people when this happens? I'm referring to an IM client such as AOL or MSN or even Windows Messenger which is different from MSN Instant Messenger. Do this if you haven't already. Goto "Run" under your "Start" button then type in "services.msc" (without the quotes of course). Then find "Messenger" and set it to disabled. Messenger is used to send alert messages through an Intranet and unless you are using a home network where you actively use this, there is no reason to. The most important reason to disconnect this is because spammers have now found out how to send messenges through this which is extremely annoying because popup killers don't see this as spam. Ok, after that have you ran any spyware software to see if you have spyware on your system? If not d/l bots of these: "Adaware" and "Spybot:Search and Destroy" Having just one of these programs won't do because what one misses the other catches and vice versa. If you've never run either of these programs before I can almost guarantee you that you'll have some spyware on your system. Now I'm not saying this is what's causing your problem but by eliminating these things we'll eventually figure out what's doing this! Get back to me after you've done what I've suggested. Something to remember is when you mess around with "Services.msc", you can screw up your computer but not to worry it can easily be reversed. Disabling Messenger won't hurt anything though. Oh and you can d/l those programs I recommended by going to http://www.download.com
Bowen
I found this article from the Lucasarts Technical Support page: "If your ISP connection is set to automatically disconnect after a certain period of inactivity, you may be disconnected while playing the game. You should disable this option in your Internet Options on your Control Panel before playing the game to prevent being disconnected mid-game." That sounds like that could be your problem but by the way, I'd still do what I recommended earlier as it will only benefit you overall! If the above solution doesn't help then try to email Lucasarts directly and see if that helps. Go here and fill out this form and see if they can help you: http://support.lucasarts.com/email/techemail.asp
tweedman
I've run Ad-aware so I'm certain theres no spyware on my computer, I also use Netstat to check that. Even with DSL I would have mIRC and AIM open, and still be able to play without any problems. I don't see any options anywhere in control panel to disconnect after inactivity. Furthmore I don't think that would be the problem because if I was playing an MP game there would be plenty of activity.
Bowen
What drivers are you using then? What type of system do you have such as cpu, vid card..etc? Have you tried updating your vid card drivers and DX version?
tweedman
DX 9.0b, I have Geforce4 Ti 4200, been using the same drivers for awhile now, 41.09s I believe. Windows 2000, Athlon XP 2100, 512mb corsair. The weird thing I noticed about this crash like I said before is I will see some weird erratic movements from my player right before it happens. Maybe my keyboard is shorting out?!
Bowen
Have you tried uninstalling JKII then reinstalling it again. Beyond doing that and having the latest Direct X installed (DX9.0b) I would email Lucasarts and see what suggestions they might have for you.
