Combat Attack Bonus Info?

Can someone clarify how the attack bonus works in combat? It appears to me that my "To Hit" stats are being completely ignored.

 

First off with a twin bladed weapon. To Hit rating is -1 left arm and + 5 right arm.

 

In combat my attack is as follows in the messages list:

 

+ 3 base

+ 4 strength mod

+ 1 weapon focus bonus

+ 1 effect bonus

 

The above is the same for both left and right attacks in the message list. So neither seems to give any penalty.

 

I am a level 3 soldier which I assume is the + 3 part. Strength is my dexerity and the other 2 are feats or a bonus on the weapon. At no point does it mention the +5 or -1 stats.

 

Next attack with a single bladed weapon. To Hit rating is + 9 for right arm.

 

In combat my attack is:

 

+ 3 base

+ 4 strength mod

+ 1 duelling

+ 1 weapon focus mod

 

So the attack bonus is identical according to those stats?

 

Am I missing something somewhere or does the game lie to me and it is better to use the 2 handed weapons regardless of what the "To Hit" rating says.
