Unable to use heavy weapons??

I am an artisan, trying to get to weaponsmith. but everytime i equip myself with a heavy or medium heavy weapon i get a popup that says i dont have the skills to use that weapon and the damage will be greatly reduced.

what do i have to do to be able to use the heavier weapons?

is it impossible for a weaponsmith/ droid engeneer to use the bigger guns??

dude only commandos can use heavy weapons, so if you wanna go commando u can use um, but thats the entire point, thats why commando is so hard to get cuz heavy weapons are so good.
