When you step on that ground that activates the boulder go back to where you came from and turn around. Go just as far as it needs between those walls where the boulder gets over. Start running as soon the boulder passes and while running pick up your whip, whip across the pit (that takes to much time, I know) and start running again. I stopped just on the tiles and used the whip. I climbed up and finally the boulder passed without killing me (for the 16th time).
