please help with level 4

Hi. I have a problem at the vey beginning of level 4. As soon as the doors close on the Shamabala level, the camara shows a still overhead picture of the place. I can't see Indy or anything actually going on. The game still goes on though because if I fiddle with the movement keys for awhile, I eventually get bitten by something (I can see on the health indicator that Indy had been poisoned), Do I have a defective disk or is there something that I can do? Thanks a lot.

This is a known bug which occurs if you don't have the update 1.2 installed.

 

To overcome this problem, install the update 1.2 which is available for download at ftp://ftp.lucasarts.com/patches/pc/J3DUpdate1.2.exe - you'll get an EXE file which you simply double-click, it installs itself.

Afterwards, load your last savegame from level 3. If you don't have one, you can download the start_04_SHAMBALA savegame from ftp://ftp.soulianis.com/archive/indy/ - preferrable the .zip variant because it saves download time, although you need WinZip or pkunzip to decode it.

Here's a less high tech answer.

 

Let it sit for a few minutes. Whent eh game's pause function takes over (camera spins slowly around Indy), you will see inside the room. Then when you press a key to play again, you will stay in the room and can see.

 

It worked for me and for my roomie on his computer. You can also go for a real challenge and just turn on the map and try to get out yourself! Have your gun out though!
