SST_Brink
Does anyone know how to play the various songs from The Dig on a piano? Or at least, can explain the melodies to me? It would be greatly appreciated! ~ Soren
brink2
Yes, indeed I play the entire score to the Dig on the piano. I transcribed Land's work by the "ancient hand and ear method," that is listening to the music and writing down the notes that I felt matched his notes most closely. Nothing fancy. Yet, I feel that my improvisations have captured the essence of his work, and I am very proud of them. It is a very complicated, delicate work based on the compositions of Richard Wagner. The opening piece "Mission to the Asteroid" alternates between minor and major keys, notably D minor, D major, A minor, and A major. One of these days, when I'm not studying so hard in College, I'll make some sound files of my sound recordings and get them up on the internet hopefully. I'm actually currently writing an article on the "Dig" for my school newspaper, and I am mentioning your website and movie in it. If you have questions regarding this article (because I have many regarding your movie), please e-mail me at: hanluke92620@yahoo.com. Thank you.
