Guest DarthMaulUK
You might want to check a few things here. If you currently have 900mhz and 368 MB, and an SiS 15 meg card, im guessing your PC is a few years old now. Im also guessing you bought it from PC World! lol Now. the New AMD chipset wont work with your current motherboard neither will the RAM. The new AMD Athlon XP range is a different chip in design. its like a small square, very thin. I think the motherboard is called a socket A set or something like that. These new motherboards require DDR ram to work. DDR ram is quicker than the old ram. Now. This all sounds very expensive but if you have a Maplins close by or shop online, (providing you live in the UK) they have some great bundle deals on new processors, motherboards and fans and if you ask nicely, they will fit it all free of charge. RAM can start from £15 upwards and i recomend maplins to anyone. DMUK
Maouko
well, my RAM is DDR RAM, which is good and the RAM works atm, but my CPU can be raised to 1.2 Gig, just not sure if it will burn out a lot faster or not, so i dont really want to risk raising it. but thanks for the help! -Mao
guyvii
I had a 2 Ghz comptuter with a 128 mb gforce vidio card. The machine was choppy until I put in 1024 MB of memory. I think Star wars Galixy wants memory and if it has to go to the hard drive, it will be choppy. After putting in the extra memory to 1 Gig. the computer runs smooth. Guest DarthMaulUK
I have just over 1 gig with my PC @ work on 256 and yes, its alot smoother but ive also been reading that people who put in more have had loading issues. Its like everything though, more RAM, the faster it goes, until the time comes when you get used to the speed and want it faster! There is no end! lol Also, Windows XP uses a hell of alot of RAM and resources to work. DMUK
