Guest dcarwin Posted May 10, 2000 Posted May 10, 2000 Hi all, I've got a generic 4-button joystick with a hat. The stick is fully reconized by win 98, all 4 buttons show response, etc. Furthermore I can use the joystick to navigate the menus in the game and choose a ship. HOWEVER...The game only recognizes one button. (and worse) As soon as a level begins and I need to fly the stick has no effect. I can fire my primary weapon, but cannot turn the ship with the joystick. I have tried "control-j" and can see that it affects the ability to fire the weapon, but has to effect on ability to control flight. Also played with "control-m" to turn the mouse off, no effect. It's very disappointing. Why does the stick work in the "menu mode" but not in the actual game? What can i do? Happy to provide more detail if needed. Dan dcarwin@yahoo.com
Guest dcarwin Posted May 10, 2000 Posted May 10, 2000 one last bit that might matter is that I'm running directX 7.
Guest The Master Posted May 10, 2000 Posted May 10, 2000 Sorry, I have an N64. (Then why did I post.)
Guest Chiles4 Posted May 11, 2000 Posted May 11, 2000 DirectX7a was put out to correct problems with joysticks and other input devices. Get version 7a of DirectX at Microsoft and give it a shot.
Guest The Master Posted May 12, 2000 Posted May 12, 2000 Yep sure does! But it is loose and that messes up some of my Mario Party games... Well I guess I can't talk about that because this is a Rogue Squadron Message Board!
Guest jubal Posted May 18, 2000 Posted May 18, 2000 Did you go to setup and try to calibrate. Might take a time or two.Had trouble with mine not centering.
