What's the deal with fog?

I'd search for an old post on this subject but the *@#!!*% search engine won't allow three letter words, and unfortunately 'fog' is a three letter word.

 

Anyways, the only kind of fog that seems to work for me is 'yavin_swamp'. I've tried almost all the others. Here's what I've been doing: I make a brush out of non-solid caulk and put the fog on the top and bottom. I then make it into a detail brush. Am I doing something wrong or do all the other fog-types only work in single-player? (my map is multiplayer)

 

Also, is there a way to alter the fog's color? Yavin_swamp would work just fine for me if I could just change the color.

yea i wondered also, my last attempt with fog, i found a shader that completely was invisible but if put on a wall it made the wall one side see through and the other side solid lmao, talk about supprize attacks :-p
