that i would think would be a debate based solely on preference and brand loyalty. an ati fan would say ati is better, while an nvidia loyalist would say the opposite.

nvidia has it's advantages as it is pretty much the standard in mind when games are designed. nvidia is pretty much always setting the standards for the gaming world, and is absolute ruler in the realm of workstation cards these days. i don't see much of a likelihood that they will lose this position any time soon.

that being said.....performance wise, nvidia and ati have always been neck and neck with one another. they perform on fairly equal levels, in my opinion, in the gaming world.

I have personally compared a 9200 Ati (non pro) and 5200FX. Ive sold about the same amount of both cards.

I can say the ATI 9200 out-performs the 5200FX easily, you can notice it straight away. They are both meant to be around the same price and performance, but the 9200 would run higher res, higher detail than the 5200 and was cheaper.

If the 9200 was the pro version, it would of been no comparison at all.

I cant say about the 9000 sorry.

One issue with the 9000 - As I recall, it is not a true DX9 card, even though the leading digit of the card number is supposed to indicate which DirectX version the card is.

While that's an issue in general, KOTOR is actually an OpenGL game so it may not make too much difference.

I had a Radeon 8500 myself and I found the gameplay to be useable but not great. I'm pretty sure that the 8500 is a more powerful card than the 9000.

I picked up a 9600XT for $150 after rebate and have been well pleased at being able to run the game at high resolution with AA and AF cranked up.

Too be fair, I looked at ATI and Nvidia at the time and the ATI simply was the better deal for the available performance and price.
