Lord Haine
Hey everybody i have a serious issue with SWG, i have just bought it today and set everything up (installed it) and now when i get onto the launchpad main menu, after signing in, its updating, now i only have a dial up connection and its taking YONKS to download the updates, and every time my internet disconnects and reconnects it doesnt auto continue downloading, what can i do?! Is there a site or something i can download it from using a download manager and leave it on overnight because at the moment it says that it will be finished downloading by tomorrow lunch time?! :'( Please someone help?! Neon Ultra
Wasn't the min system a 56k? I would extremely recommend getting a 56k or above modem. But if you find a site with a SWG update on it, you can use Download Accelerator Plus, free from http://www.downloadaccelerator.com to download it. With DAP you can resume downloading at any time, so it doesnt matter if your connection is interrupted.
Lord Haine
I have a 56kbps 'modem' but that doesnt mean that the connection will be at 56kbps, mine differs but is usually about 28kbps, but it doesnt matter really because in about 10 days im getting Freeserve Broadband 512kbps, (Im in the UK), and then i can play SWG to my hearts content Im greatly and deeply looking forward to it
Guest DarthMaulUK
Sounds to me Lord that BT have split your telephone line. Do you have 2 lines? Because BT are such losers, if people ask for 2 lines, BT dont actually install a second line - they split the current one into 2. Thus making your modem alot slower. A friend of mine has experience the same problems and if you are getting broadband - I suggest you get onto BT now. BT will try and through a huge charge at you to install a second line - but stay strong.... argue the fact out and they will give in..they did to my friend and they fixed it. Even if you dont have a second line, the previous tenants might have and it is worth checking with BT DMUK
Lord Haine
Whoa... DMUK you definatly know what your talking about! My mum looked on her phone bill and apperently a 'line splitting device' has been installed, but we dont have 2 lines, just 1, so us (me and my mum) are sharing a line with someone else, and BT got abit funny when my mum asked questions like who put it on there etc. My mum got pissed in the end and told them to take it off so this persons coming out, um, this monday i think to look at it, and if he can take it off he will, although he probably wont even turn up knowing BT... Thanks alot for the help DMUK, i was wondering why my nextdoor neighbour can get speeds of 44kbps on exactly the same connection as me! P.S. I hate BT
