Weiser_Cain Posted February 23, 2004 Share Posted February 23, 2004 SPOILER Ok, durring the flashbacks I noticed bastila didn't use a double lightsaber so i changed it using the new save game editor and replaced her dual weapon feat with dueling. This worked out great for me but it also gave me an idea. How would i go about changing the lightsaber styles the jedi in my party use with a mod? My idea was to swap-out the default lightsabers so that juhani duelwielded bastila used a single blade jolee used a staff, all when you first meet them, so aside from altering their feats I also wanted to swap out thier default equiped items. dj_owen Posted February 23, 2004 Share Posted February 23, 2004 you should be able to do all that with the character .utc file. we'll do juhani for fun: open the p_juhani.utc file with your .gff editor (it's under Biffs-templates). now, we can do all kinds of interesting things with her, but you just want her to dual-wield. okay, so scroll down to where it says "Equip_Item List". open this, and you see she's equiped with three items: a blue lightsaber, a red jedi knight robe, and belt. all you need to do is add another EquippedRes line. the easiest way to do this is select the one that points to the lightsaber (tag 1), and hit ctrl+C, then select Equip_Item List and hit ctrl+V. you can also change the color of her lightsaber by simply changing the g_w_lghtsbrXX, where 01-blue, 02-red, 03-green, 04-yellow, 05-purple, 06-malak's. finally, you might want to give her at least a level or two of two-weapon fighting. so go to FeatList, and add another node called Feat. you're looking for the number that corresponds to Two-Weapon-Fighting, so open up the feats.2da, and browse for it (it's number 3, and advanced is number 9). there, save and put in your overrides folder, and you now have a dual-wielding juhani with advanced two-weapon fighting to start off. i tried to make this as detailed as possible, so you can figure out how to make the other two characters work, but you can't figure it out, i'll explain further. Commas Posted February 24, 2004 Share Posted February 24, 2004 i did the same thing to make jolee weild a staff, and there were two files for him, one was under templates and title p_jolee.utc the other was in the kas_m24aa module and was called p_jolee001.utc i knew i had to change the first one (p_jolee), and i assumed the second file (p_jolee001) was only used for jolee when you first meet him before he joins the party (i.e. when he is fighting the four katarns) and he was infact using the staff i gave him, so i think if you want juhani to be dual wielding when you fight her before she joins your party you will have to find a simlar file in one of the dantooine modules and edit that one as well. i also edited jolee's feats to accomodate his new weapon, but i only changed the feats in p_jolee, not p_jolee001 and it worked fine, so while you have to equip the second lightsaber for juhani in both files you only need to edit the feats in the one on a small aside when i added the new feats to jolee i added them as new feats so that he would have both advanced two weapon fighting and advanced dueling and at first it only gave him the dueling, when i deleted the dueling feats and replaced them with the two weapon fighting then they worked, so is there some kind of cap on the number of feats i can give jolee to start with? i think it might be because of his starting level, and if i want to add more feats than his level allows i need to change that first Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dj_owen Posted February 24, 2004 Share Posted February 24, 2004 weiser-cain: i like commas has it right, the p_juhani file only affect the character AFTER they join your party. her file should be in one of the dan_XX files in the rims files. i like commas: i've never run into that level cap problem. i've had a level two custom character with like 15 feats. i'm not sure why that's happening for you, but it looks like you've solved it. [EDIT]: i just thought of something: make sure the numbering is right on the new feats you're adding. it has to read them in order, so you can't have a 9 above a 006, i think. that's the only solution i could come up with.
