Well lets see. I have gold on every thing and the strategy to that level is, first it might be a good idea to be either the TIE-INTERCEPTER or the NABOO STAR FIGHTER which makes this a little easier. For more imformation one of my fellow rogues will explain that for you.

Sullust is one of the hardest levels to get Gold medal on, first concentrate on destroying the uh, missile turrets, then bomb all the buildings (don't forget to get the bonus by the landing platform), and then when all the power generators or whatever you call them are destroyed, you'll see a cutscene, then you gotta shoot down all those lightbulb things on that huge thing in the sky, this takes TONS of practice. The funnest way to play the level is in the A-Wing.

I did beat the level with the y-wing, it took me about a day. Try not to lose your temper on it. :-)

The only starfighter with a snowball's chance on Sullust is the A-wing. This is entirely because it has a sensor-jamming feature. As you're flying toward the missile turret, it won't 'see' you for a moment...which gives you time to brighten up its day, so to speak. wink.gif

For an exercize in futility, try the Millenium Falcon at Sullust.

BAM!

BAM!

"Chewie's not gonna be happy..."

BAM!

"Chewie's not gonna be happy..."

You know what? Chewie's getting a new ship, and he's just gonna have to get over it. biggrin.gif

How do you use the A-wing in Sullust? The only ones I can get are the Y-wing, Falcon, and interceptor.

I personally think it is easier to beat Sullust with A-wing. I just zip around missles and turrents holding down the blasters all the way. Oh yeah, that one civialian building, the really big one next to the landing platform, blow that up to get the bonus. Or you can do what I do, destroy the enemies, and then concentrate on blowing your friends out of the sky.

to get a-wing or any other ship on sullust, you'll have to either get gold on everything (including sullust) or use the deaddack cheat and get a gold medal on hoth.

You gotta have the medals in order to unlock that puppy, 'cause the A-wing is a real pilot's ship. wink.gif You have to be ready for it...

That's what he said. biggrin.gif

You don't need the A-wing, you can just use the Naboo! You can take out those generator thingys in a few seconds with a torpedo and blaster fire, and the missle turrets aren't fast enough to get you if you're a good enough pilot.

Waht's wrong with the Y-Wing? A few tips for the raid:

- Make sure you've got the advanced lasers & shield power-ups from earlier levels.

- The first button to hit is "link lasers". To destroy a laser turret, use 2 (linked) shots, to destroy a missile turret, use 3. You'll need this to achieve the required accuracy for gold.

- When you see a missile turret, kill it ASAP.

- Just follow your radar.

- Bomb a few AT-ST's along the way to secure the required kill numbers.

- Use only one approach to each generator. If you can take one or two laser turrets around it, all the better, but otherwise leave them. You have to be high enough not to get damaged by the blast from your own bomb.

- For the "huge thing in the sky", keep your Y-Wing as high as possible.

PS: Can you really get gold with an A-Wing or Naboo fighter? I'd like to see that...

I agree, the Y-wing is a tough ship but this level is very hard to go Gold with it. Definitely have all powerups and get those missiles turrets first. Realistically though, what idiot would take a Y-Wing solo for an assault on a heavily fortified enemy base. This is one mission where I wish RS had co-op play. Y-Wings are so slow that I consider them strictly bombers, and should not go unescorted. AI wingmen don't do much but really there should be some X-wings or A-wings to fly cover. I mean, come on, did Luke attack the Death Star by himself?

It has been a while since I played. Please refresh my memory, are there any AI friendlies on this mission? If so, are they Y-Wings? I'm sure they do nothing but fly around and get killed. Big help. frown.gif

Yeah, I have tried this with the Falcon and it was funny. She's too big of a target for all of those missiles. smile.gif Chewie would fly straight for the big generator, find it shielded, then say to hell with it and get the heck out of there.

Yes, there are friends on the Raid of Sullust, they don't really do anything besides fly around. I mean, ya, I'll give them credit for taking down a Tie or two, maybe. But after taking out all of the generators and taking the sheild off the thing that holds all of the capacitors they will take one or two of these out.

This, personally, ticks me off becuase I could get extra kills on the mission. So you practicly do the mission by yourself! You are a one man squadron in the game! The rest of the squadron don't help you in ANY of the missions. As much as they can do is fly around and look pretty besides shooting off a laser shot once in a while which rarly ever hit the enemy! It wouldn't make much of a difference if you just deleted the rest of the squadron from the game!

Okay, enough said, I got worked up and am now mad.

Guest Gold Squadron Leader

It's OK Master. Take a deep breath now. smile.gif I didn't mean to rile you up.

The friendlies that don't do anything are definitely a irritating part of RS for all of us. They are nothing more than background decorations that give the illusion that you are part of a squadron. Now I admit it would make the game too easy if they did all of the work, but that is not what I want. The least they could do is stay in loose formation and provide some cover, not chase ties all over the map far away from the action. In Raid on Sulleist, they wouldn't have to do anything but take a out a few turrets to be useful. And of course shield me from the constant missile barrage so that I don't get plastered by too many. So come on wingmen, give your Squadron Leader a hand for a change or next time I'll leave you at the hanger washing maintenance droids. biggrin.gif

Hey,

I once thought the raid was tough, but Moff Seerdon's level is waaay more difficult. I haven't beaten Sullust for a gold (only silver), but I got very close to getting gold on it the other day with the Y-Wing. Just use your bombs fast and effectively!
