Bunk
I figured that maybe someone here might have already looked in to this and can share their wisdom with me. I've been contemplating playing around with a Star Wars based mod in NWN and wondered what would go in to exporting models from Knights to use in NWN. Specifically I'ld like to export some of the heads in knights and use them for heads in NWN. Has anyone tried anything like this? Any advice would be appreciated. Kitty Kitty
Currently, we haven't yet figured out what format the models are in - meaning we have no tools available to edit or manipulate them yet. Since their format is NOT the same as that of NWN models (or any other models we've looked at), at this time, using them anywhere else is as impossible as editing them or adding new ones to KotOR. -Kitty
Bunk
Well thats rather disapointing I recently discovered that Lucasarts made Neverwinter Vault pull any star wars haks from their systems, so trying to find any sort of models is rather difficult. Ive got a Twilek head in Poser, but the poly count would make NWN explode I think...
Kitty Kitty
Poser isn't a good choice for designing models for use in most games. They look very nice, but the poly counts are WAY too high for most game engines. Even if they can use them at all, it'll just cause a lot of slowdowns and graphic lag. I could probably model something for NWN with a star wars flavor, but the thing is, I was very unimpressed with NWN, especially the IMO, lack of detail to even the player models.. So I never even looked into it since it just wasn't something that held much interest for me. If I did though, I'd probably work in Milkshape or 3ds. -Kitty
Bunk
I agree that NWN has its limitations, its just that its a lot easier trying to design in a game that actually has a working editor I'll likely just export what I have in poser to 3ds, Im pretty sure I have a poser plugin for it, and then see if I can reduce the poly count.
