Colja
I was wondering why my custom icons always appear with the light blue edges gone and oversized overall. I am in the process of making icons for my robes and such but this has halted my progress...........Help me O fellow modders, you are my only hope. Colja
When I extract the icon textures and recolor them, then put them into override, they appear bigger and the light blue border is completely gone.

Colja
I don't know a lot about photoshop, just the basics. I have heard of the alpha channels but I am unsure of how to use them properly. Any help would be very much appreciated.
svösh
The first thing you see in Photshop when you open any of the Icon files from the game is the layers if you go to the layer pallet and click on the tab behind named channels you will see 4 channels. First one is RGB this is the overall look of the Red ® Green (g) Blue (b) Next is red next is green and next is blue The one you want to look at is alpha it’s back and white. If you turn on the channel by clicking the eye icon next to the thumbnail you will only see the alpha channel. If you turn the RGB channel back on you will see a red mask of the original this helps to see what you are doing. You can turn this on and off to see the final result any thing that is masked will be transparent any thing you can see clearly will be opaque. Turn off the alpha again and select your item copy it and paste it to a separate layer Ctrl clicking and selecting the thumbnail of that layer will allow you to make a selection only around the item and not the background. If your not going for any fancy effects around the item You can go to the channels tab with the selection active make a new channel it will be sold black grab the pain brush tool make sure the foreground colour it white and paint inside the selection. Duplicate the image by right clicking the title bar and then flatten it. Layers > flatten layers Make sure there is only one alpha channel if the original is still there delete it. Save the file as ???.tga and make sure the alpha channel check box is ticked on. Anything black is 100% transparent and anything White is 100% opaque Any varying degree of gray is semi transparent depending how light or dark it is. Hope this helps if not pm me and I will do my best to explain it better. svösh
