Krytin
I've been goofin' around trying to put my own armor into the game. I read Kitties thread about how to do it. I opened Kotor Tool, went to the bifs, then to templates and then blueprint, item. I was trying something easy so I wanted to add some new sith armor. I double clicked the ptar_sitharmor.uti. Her thread said to change the 28 under subtype to 509. It won't let me delete the 28 to put in the 509. What am I doing wrong?
Darth_ToMeR
You don't need to delete the 28... It's the row of the original sith armor...
Krytin
so what do I put in a the new row?
Amf12345
Did you extract it and open it with GFF Editor?

Admiral Chemix
I think people use the UTI editor rather than the old confusing GFF editor now. Sadly I can't help.
Amf12345
What UTI editor?
Krytin
Yeah I was using the uti editor in Kotor Tool. I mean come one, it says "editor". Anyway, I extracted the uti file and opened it with GFF editor. So now I just edit the uti file and the appearance.2da to my liking and drop 'em all into the override folder right? Just wanna make sure I get this right the first time. Thanks for all the help.
Krytin
ok, I got it in the game, works great. Now, how do I make my custum name show up in the game (still says Sith Armor) and how do I edit the description? I've checked around the board, can't find anything that helps with descriptions. I'm not sure it's possible. Only just started modding today myself, though, so I could be wrong. I have worked with NWN, however, and I know that didn't have the capacity to add new text descriptions without a good deal of fiddling around with dialog.tlk (not a good idea for a newbie) until the second expansion pack came out. Even now, you have to fiddle with a new .TLK file...
Amf12345
I asked this question last week, here is what tk102 said. Pop open the .uti file in GFF Editor and change the LocalizedName field. It should be set to STRREF=-1, Gender=Male, LangID=0 and press Enter. That will open up the text portion for you to write in your description. Prime also said further down in the thread that pressing the enter key shows up as white squares in the game.
Krytin
You don't have to use the STRREF or Gender entry. Go to LocalizedName, then put a zero in the language ID part, hit enter and the white section appears. Put in the name of your new item. Next click on Descidentified and put a zero in the Language ID part there and hit enter. When the white part appears enter the description part of your new item. Then save. I only saw one little glitch in it. It leaves a little white square at the end of the description part. No biggie. Thanks for all the help.
