frayedends
Just wondering if this has been created yet. Every client/server FPS engine has one, and given the fact we're less than 3 months from release, it would be prudent to get an official one running. Along those lines, it's going to be important that it's read by the developers, and replied to once in a while. The server operators and hosting companies like myself will need to have somewhere to feedback information on the server engine, and hopefully conduct a developmental beta prior to public release. At least let us test the server engine for stability. Because it's based on the Q3 engine, I would anticipate it to be rather stable, however it would be a good idea for us to test it on all of the different flavors of *nix, glibc library versions, kernels, and hardware we run. If anyone has info on the subject of a list, please post it, or sticky a thread. I know of several other network admins looking for this info besides myself. jdtech
Just FYI Battlefront is not using the Quake 3 Engine, it is using a new one by Pandemic Studios...as far as I believe. John
frayedends
Pandemic actually used a heavily modified version of the Q3-Arena engine. I don't know how much of the original code is still there, but it was a good engine to start with. Maybe i should clarify... I saw an article (ign?) where one of the devs said something about the fact it was the Q3 arena engine that had been modified. That's where I got the info from. If it's wrong, or I'm mistaken, I apologize.

No, the engine for Star Wars Battlefront is a brand new engine developed by Pandemic Studios. However, how much of that is actually true, we don't know...
