Game Crash after briefing

i've just got a new PC and after not playing on XWA 4 ages I decided to load it up but just after the briefing my PC closes the game and goes back to the desktop! Every Time!

 

anyone know why this is or how to fix it?

I used to have a similar problem: "game freeze" after the cut scene. Check your display settings. You might also try changing your desktop resolution (higher or lower) that was my problem.

mine doesn't freeze. it just cuts straight back to the desktop!

if u are using any software to enhance your video cards (like voodoo2tweaker) then just put all settings to defaults also do this in your video options for your cards, this worked for me on a few games (XWA and AVP)
