Grim Fandango XP Trouble

I've recently got a new computer and have been hoping to play Grim Fandango on it. It worked perfectly on Windows ME when I had that, but now when I try to load it I get:

"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application."

It also says this when I try to install Escape from Monkey Island. Any idea how I can get it working?

I've been having loads of trouble trying to get old games to work.

was havin the exact same problem myself just got xp too.

i just fixed it but was readin your problem yesterday so thought i'd tell you how i did it.

i was checkin my computer and in C:\windows\system32 there is no file called autoexec.nt so i checked another pc on xp in the windows system32 folder it had AUTOEXEC.NT

copied it onto floppy (only 2kb)

pasted it into my system32 folder and then it loaded fine

check an xp machine without service pack 1 on it thats where i found it.
