troutman Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 Can anyone who has system linked two Xboxes with Battlefront please tell how many players there are per Xbox console? Is it one or two players? I have searched and found no clear information on this at all. I am not talking about Xbox Live or any online play since I don't have that anyway. I am only talking about "offline LAN multiplayer playing with system link." The back of the Xbox game doesn't clearly say either way. I know about the two-player splitscreen already but that's only for one Xbox (the story or campaign mode). I am hoping someone can verify this for me who has actually done this. Thank you, Troutman
BigWyrm Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 For system link, it is only one person per XBOX. I have mine linked up and the option for splitscreen link was not available. Sorry!
troutman Posted September 23, 2004 Author Posted September 23, 2004 BigWyrm, So you tried system linking to another local Xbox owner in the same room who had Battlefront and you could "not" have two players or more per console? Is that correct? Troutman
Mason P. Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 I have a post asking the same question. I thought it was a system link game that could play 2-10 people like the back said. I thought you could have 4 guys on the same tv like halo.
troutman Posted September 23, 2004 Author Posted September 23, 2004 Just called the LucasArts tech support line. They confirmed my worst suspicions. Xbox Battlefront is ONLY 1 PERSON PER CONSOLE when system linked for offline LAN play. This is tragic and just incredibly disappointing. Who is going to lug around one Xbox/one tv per person to play with a group of 5 or so friends? This is a serious flaw in the game design. There is no value or practicality in doing this. I asked the LucasArts person to pass this on as feedback to their Development Team. I still think the majority of Xbox players DO NOT have Xbox Live, but when they play with a group of people, it's offline LAN system link play with some type of split-screen capability. If anyone reading this can relay this feedback to the LucasArts Development Team, I would appreciate that. The same thing happened with 'Jedi Knight Academy.' I can't believe it's a programming issue. My goodness, Halo and Timesplitters 2 can even support FOUR PEOPLE PER CONSOLE system linked. If I ever Beta-tested this game, I would have flat out failed it on this one problem alone!!! I bought THREE Star Wars Battlefront games from Fry's Electronics thinking at least they are 2-player per console system linkable, but knowing now they are not, I am RETURNING ALL THREE GAMES since they are still unopened. What in the world is LucasArts thinking? Very disgusted and upset, Troutman
Ghim Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 Totally agree with you troutman! I wasn't sure which one to get PC or Xbox. I ended up getting the PC because of the 1 Xbox 1 TV system link crap. My friends and I still have awesome Halo parties, I was with you hoping that this would be the case with Battlefront. The thing that really upsets me is how vague they are on the features and such. 1-16 players offline? Split screen, 1 per box? Come on throw me a fricken bone people!! I fell for it with Wolfenstein .... fool me once..... Ghim
humanslayer3 Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 there is 1million people on xbox live you should consider getting it it makes offline seem boring. It is awsome.
MastaPlo Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 remember that x box also has the screen that u hook on to the x box u might want to consider that if u plan on sw battlefront parties, still waitin for tommorrow.........

Troutman Me and 18 other people about once month. Games Like Counter Strike, Project Gotham, Ghost Recon also support system link with only one person per Xbox. I for one like have my TV to myself. It my be from playing PC games for so long, but i hate that D@m bottom lift corner in Halo. I know not ever one has 18+ Friends that has an xboxs and are willing to lug them over (and buy or rent the game), But for those who do its a get way to waste a Saturday.
