Problem with main screen

hey, on the main screen of JA its all slow and choppy so i cant move the mouse without waiting 20 seconds. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? (it happens in other games such as jedi knight 2 and return to castle wolfenstein.... these games both use the quake 3 engine so im guessing its something to do with that)

I had a similar problem with JO, but when I ran the game on a newer computer, it worked fine. How good is your computer?
