Guest Darth Massacator
I used to own the gameport version of the X35/X36 combo from Saitek. As good as that joystick set was, I'd get the sticky keyboard problem regardless of any patch Saitek released. Well I got sick of the problem so much so I went down and started looking at the latest brands and models until I came across the USB/Digital version X35/X36. Someone in this forum told me about it, and it rocks!!!! No more sticky keyboard, no more calibrating, and this game has pumped new life into X-Wing Alliance. And when I'm done slaughtering the evil Empire in my trusty X-Wing, I can hop into a good game of Tribes and my keyboard won't freak out on me. Guest OtanaMan
No...calibrating? No kidding? Wow. That's the type of joystick I'm looking for. How much buttons does it have?
Guest Fondas
Buttons ? Hmmmm... that's a tough one. The X35/X36 combo is basically a stick and a throttle. both they have 6 buttons, 2 8-way hat switches, 1 4-way switch, 3 modes, a pinky button (works as a shift), 3 modes and it is fully programmable. (Win) So , back to your question, LOTS !
Guest Darth Massacator
Yep, Fondas summed it up. The only thing I'll add is that it also includes rudder controls.
Guest Fondas
Darth, I have the gameport version and I'm having calibrating problems. It could be my sb16 that causes them, but I haven't looked into it yet. How much for the USB version ?
Guest Darth Massacator
Sounds like we had the same problem. I had to keep adjusting the knobs on my X36F to get the calibration smooth. I was running my set through an AWE64 (similar to your soundcard), but I also tried running it through a dedicated gamecard with dismal results. The new USB version is around $90.00. I think that was the same price as the older series. One of the biggest benefits of the new USB version is I don't have to plug the system in through my keyboard. It just goes in one USB port, in case ya wondered.
