Guest Evolver1138
I just flew the first battle mission in XWA, where you're supposed to destroy the convoy. Now the doors to the ready room won't open (all the others will) and when I check my player status it says I'm 'On leave.' How did this happen, and how do I get off of leave? I wanna fly some more! Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Regards, Evolver
Sandford
The mission after Battle 1 convoy attack is a family mission (Rescue Uncle Anton), if you go to Emkay he will give you the briefing. You can't enter the briefing room when you have a family mission hence the leave. ------------------ My wingman accepts any/all responsibility for my repeated deaths
Guest Rogue15
Emkay is awesome! That's the only thing i like about the family missions, is hearing Emkay's smart comments.
Guest Expert Rookie
Here's a list that will state my opinion about Emkay and will tell about the things to come... EMKAY DESERVES TO BE SENT TO KESSEL! UNCLE ANTAN (correctly spelled) WILL BETRAY YOU! ------------------ "Good, our first catch of the day." -Captain of the ISD Tyrant, seen in the Empire Strikes Back
Guest Expert Rookie
How yeah almost forgot... [*]FAMILY MISSIONS SUCK! ------------------ "Good, our first catch of the day." -Captain of the ISD Tyrant, seen in the Empire Strikes Back
Sandford
Yep, family mission are the proverbial bad apple, this is made worse by the rather incomplete story line. Emkay is annoying but you never have listen to what he says anyway, the inflight goals are much more use.
Keyan Farlander
Guys, what are you saying? The family missions rule.
Sandford
Family missions do not rule; they would be bearable if they had led somewhere. The problem is that you have several missions of tedious irrelevance that conclude in betrayal from a family member. If at this point you were able to deliver some retribution then it all might have been worth while, however, your corrupt Uncle is left at large and this is extremely frustrating. To say the least this does not compensate for putting up with Emkay for what seems like an eternity. With the above in mind, I will now completely contradict myself by saying that they have an important part to play in the rich XWA tapestry, they allow some change from the otherwise repetitive Rebel missions. I think that if the game had not included them it would have been bereft of variation and therefore interest. Sorry to ramble on so much, I’m waiting for my steak and chips to finish cooking! ------------------ My wingman accepts any/all responsibility for my repeated deaths
Keyan Farlander
I wasn't too upset that you didn't get to kill Antan. I was at first, but then it didn't really matter so much - escaping his trap was enough. I am more upset about the crappy last cutscene, actually. And I thought Emkay was cool
Sandford
Fair point about the cutscene, I was impressed with the whole Endor battle though. ------------------ My wingman accepts any/all responsibility for my repeated deaths
Guest Silver_Storm
hey dudes its ok, the family missions added a new twist not normally seen in X-Wing games. Heck u got to pilot a freighter and the millenum falcon for crying out loud. I haven't ever seen that in previous games have you?
Guest Rogue15
I knew Antan would end up betraying me, so by saying that, you didn't spoil me. The family missions have some pretty cool objectives though. I liked the one where you have to plant the listening device (aeron does), and I destroyed that assault transport, and then i just destroyed a few of those zero g troopers, and beat it. on my second try. My favorite mission so far was where you have to help disable the suprosa (i hit shift+I over a trillion times because of my retarded wingman), and I beat it, it followed the book perfectly! Sandford
Yep, unlce Anton was definately an obvious villan, and I enjoyed some of the family missions, I really want to kill Anton though ! Oh well, I guess I'll either a) have to put up with it or b) design the missions myself ------------------ My wingman accepts any/all responsibility for my repeated deaths
Sandford
Doh! I really must start spelling Antan correctly.
