Guest The Corinthian
Hi I just got X-wing Alliance and Im wondering about the multiplayer aspect of it. I have a small LAN at home and want to have a multiplayer battle with X-wings against the Death Star and tie fighters. I cant see any way of doing this currently. Can anyone help? Guest Steele
Hi !! Put the Deathstar Mission in the Skirmish directory, rename it to Temp.tie, open it with Allied and change some Fighters to players 1-8 and change the Temp.tie writeprotect. Now you can fly this mission with some LAN friends !! ------------------ "I am Homer of Borg. Prepare to be....OHOHOH Doughnuts!!" Steele Aerospace

Guest The Corinthian
The Death Star Mission, is it called "1b7m4w.tie" ?(its the last one in the list). I tried copying it from the Missions folder into Skirmish, renamed it to temp.tie. Went to Game, combat simulator, multiplayer, load and cant see anything for the deathstar. What am I doing wrong? Guest The Corinthian
Hi again I copied the temp.tie into the skirmish folder and tried renaming it to a .skm file. This time it appeared under the Combat missions when I went to load it but then the craft lists are all empty and I cant choose the Death Star as any item. *8(
Guest JM
Firstly I don't think the tunnel run will work because it swaps OPT files around to use the pipes / blocks / etc. which aren't used elsewhere. Secondly playing a mission multiplayer is only possible by fooling the game. When you play a skirmish XWA generates a mission file, temp.tie, from the information you placed in the skirmish editor. If however you set temp.tie to be read-only then XWA can't overwrite it with the skirmish information and so you can use an edited "proper" mission file. I have never actually tried this but what I'd suggest is making a skirmish which has enough flight groups for you and your friends and saving it. Then open the mission file you require with AlliED and as Steele says "change some Fighters to players 1-8". Save the mission as temp.tie in the skirmish directory and set the file to read-only. Then start your game with your buddies and assign them to the FGs in the skirmish and hopefully they will pop up in the mission in the fighters you have set to be player craft. As I say though I never actually tried this (strange that TG made this retrograde step in XWA from XvT/BoP).
