Guest Luke Skywalker
Homeworld has a great engine but what would be your homebase? A death Star?
General Nilaar
3d is NOT the way to go. At least not yet. There's still too many people on 56k modems to play those kind of games online. One day, but not yet. Not in a genre which has so many units on screen at once. The rush to 3d is killing online play...... Who cares about light effects? I care about game play. I have yet to see a 3d RTS game equal the fun of the 2d games. Let's remember that Force Commander went the 3d, scaled to the movies, Star Wars realistic approach, and it FAILED. That failure is what drove them to get as far away from that metod of desiging a game as possible. I miss having to take the resource bunkers and the swooping and strifeing fighters. And that's about it.
Guest redstarz1
gameplay is better too me on the 3d engine cuz u can see it at different angles, along with the lighting and stuff. plus, who cares if alot of people are on 56k, its time for them to upgrade then. why hold back on a great 3d engine just cuz people r on 56k, people on 56k need to do there part and upgrade to something faster. dsl, cable, directpc, etc. if they cant dish out the extra money then they shouldnt be playing online, cuz alot of us have these nice graphic cards which r very inexpensive now days and we cant even use it to its potential.
