MDL import issue

To get a feel for models in TSL I want to import a few into 3ds max 8 so I extracted the mdl/mdx with the Kotor Tool, then decompiled with mdlops pressing read/write model. When i use nwn tool in 3ds to import the ascii model (geom only) it crashes 3ds max :( am I doing something wrong? I searched the threads, can't find the answer anywhere...Thanks!

You need Nwmax I personally use 0.7 not 0.8 but that’s me call me crazy but if it works … beside I don’t want annoying vert welding sanity errors on export I can do without the hassle. The link can be found at the top of my tip and tuts modeling thread , here http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=134510

http://nwmax.dladventures.com/download/NWmax-3ds6-v0_7setup.exe even though it says it’s for max6 it works fine in 7 and 8

Just close max then install it to the 3dmax# root. When you start up max on the left you will see a new flyout go to mdl loading and browse to the ascii mdl you got from mdlops and hit import, I would advise scanning that thread for a few restrictions in modeling , but note this was written a while ago. Since then we have been able to edit sabers, and heads with their restrictions as well , but area models maps.. we can’t. Skin mesh can be replaced check out the skin mesh editing threads in the modeling skinning forums as well.
