Orinoco
Hiya guys, I am very intrigued by the new music for dark forces and I was especially impressed by the tie fighter redo. Can anyone tell me how this was all accomplished and where I can obtain the rest of the tie fighter or x-wing score in this re-designed format? Fracman
Basically, its very simple. You take the MIDI files of the games, and play them with better MIDI synthesizers, e.g. Roland Sound Canvas, and record and save them as MP3. To obtain better results, you re-arrange the MIDI channels, assign different instruments that sound better. For the DFMOD soundtrack, Benevolence has done a huge great job! But he did not the music for Tie-Figther nor X-Wing games. There was a site called "LucasArts Soundtracks" that used to host all the converted soundtracks, unfortunately they had to remove all the files due to License issues. Hiya, Yeah, I spotted that site and saw the KOTOR stuff. It appears to be quite difficult, he was talking about stuff taking weeks. If anybody has the x-wing stuff or tie fighter music re-synthed that they need backed up, archived, off site, as it were, they can drop an email to me. thanks.
