making a different coloured CM_Baremetal texture

for a single item.

 

i can drop a new CM_Baremetal file into my override foler and get it to work exactly as i want in terms of appearance, but i really only want to use it for certain items, however when i try changing their .txi files to envmaptexture CM_Baremetal2 (for instance) it comes out basically totally black in the areas the texture should be showing through (though it DOES have the appearance of metal)

 

i tried making a new .txi file, copying what was in the original baremetal image using kotor tool, but it's just gobbeldygook ( ~I$I$A to be precise)

 

 

any help would be lovely.

Don't know if it'll make any difference, but the TXI information for CM_Baremetal.tpc simply reads "cube 1".

 

(For some reason KotORTool won't display the TXI info properly for some textures. You'll have to extract those TPC files (without converting to TGA) and open them with a hex-editor. Then you'll see the TXI info in plain text right at the end of the file.)
