Rebel Scum
Hello all, pardon my newb-ness. I've recently bought a used copy of JK:DF II and installed it on my rather old machine: Windows 98 SE, 128 meg RAM, NVidia Riva 128. HOW DO I CONFIGURE THE MOUSE FOR MOUSELOOK??? I have a Logitech mouse with a wheel, PS/2. I've done it before, on a different machine (Win 2K, optical USB mouse) but for some reason I can't get it right. I have Mouse X and Y axis both Up/down, no reverse. It just doesn't work right at all. Please help! This game may be old but it RULES.
BoShek04
You need to go to setup, contols and tick enable free look. That should do it
Kurgan
Yep. The only thing that still annoys me now is that you can't map the mousewheel to switch weapons...
Rebel Scum
You need to go to setup, contols and tick enable free look. That should do it I was having trouble with the mouse configuration; x-axis and y-axis crap. I spent forever and a day messing around with it until I got it. I don't quite understand it. Is it something with games pre-1998 or so, that most people used the keyboard? I don't know why this was such a pain in the ass. And yeah, using the mousewheel to select weapons--it must be the game's age. Quake, for example, doesn't allow it, but later games it's no problem. Kurgan
Hey wait a minute, I just thought of something. Wasn't there recently released a program or plugin that let you use the mousewheel to switch weapons in JK1? I'm getting a foggy memory of something posted over on Massassi in the last year or so... so maybe you can after all...
Rebel Scum
That would kick ass. What's Massassi? By the way, I've been playing through Jedi Knight on Hard, and wow, it's hard! The AI actually jumps over obstacles and whatnot to get at me. A nice touch. I can't beat Sariss on Normal, so we'll see!
Kurgan
You should check out the various "AI Tweak" mods.. they make even 'Hard' much cooler! http://www.massassi.net. A site from the semi-early days of the JediKnight community (I don't remember if they were around in '96 when JK.net started up or if they came a little later) that nowadays focuses heavily on mods and editing of the series (but probably the site with the most JK1/MotS related mod projects). Check it out. Edit: the actual mods you need to look up (or google) are "AI Tweak" and "Super Smart Dark Jedi" (they conflict though since both modify the Dark Jedi intelligence, but you can combine their contents using a gob extractor program like Conman though). Kurgan
Well the news archive was goofed up on JK.net and I couldn't find it on Massassi, but I did finally find it, enjoy: http://jkdf2.net/file_utilities.php?file=3 (haven't tested it yet myself, but it should work)
