Multiplayer Set Up

EaW is definitely one of the best games I've played in a while; it's a refreshing RTS and one I'm confident I can get into.

 

However, the Internet/Server situation is....terrible.

 

I had to unplug my router and shut down my firewalls on the first day in order to ensure that I could even connect with other people. Aside from the annoyance factor of that, it seems that most other folks don't understand this concept, and the result is...lackluster gameplay.

 

I'm only able to join maybe one out of every seven games I join. The NAT connection is unreliable. The lag is horrid.

 

Something needs to be done. A server setup akin to Blizzard's for Starcraft/Warcraft would be ideal.

 

DEVS, don't let pride guide you toward a huge mistake. This game can be wildly successful over the internet--but the set up for the server and connection mechanics has to change.

 

There's a reason why Blizzard's RTS games are the best ever made. And one of those reasons is the easy and reliable internet setup for multiplayer.

 

Change it, DEVS. Change it and let the game flourish.

 

P.S. I'm one of your higher end users. I have a 3.2 GHz Processor. Cable Internet Connection. ATI Radeon X800 Platinum Graphics Card. 1 Gig Hard Drive.

 

All my friends are complaining about the same stuff. I just want to nip this inevitable question in the bud.
