From what i've been told:

1) Yoda uses German grammar. But English is essentially German so the point stands

2) There were several varieties of Latin, and they evolved into the modern Romance languages, with Spanish being the closest to "peasant latin" and Romanian in second.

In MY big SF universe (set in our own future), there's only SIX major languages left by 2200. English, German, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, and Chinese. Languages like Spanish and French are only used on their colonies and RARELY in their home nation on Earth.

German is quite easy. It's not all that far off from English (close enough that I can GUESS what words mean), compared to something like Spanish where you have a different ALPHABET. Spanish is probably harder than German in my opinion.

Now CYRILLIC languages are the hardest (excluding everything from Asia with those funky alphabets with 39409435340598 symbols)
