First, how are you editing ffa1, are you in Radiant or are you using Lugormod or an in game editor or what? If you are in Radiant, you can make a brush, make it a trigger_multiple entity, target it to a target_print, and then add a "message" key to the target_print with a value of the message (and no quotes, they'll cause errors), but I've only ever edited in Radiant, and only know how to place money dispensers and jail in lugor mod.
