Guest jigga
What I mean is the story, unit hit points, damage and units are all made, how much work would have to go into this game if they were to try another engine. I would assume they would need new artwork they already have all the units and buildings,if the civs are already balanced would changing the engine change that? I was just wondering because of all the discussion on the better engine to use going on. The expansion could be the exact game with a few tweaks and more civs on another engine. I wonder if they would have to price it as a new game. Most expansions are atmost 20$ less then the original would it be worth it.
Guest HanSolo
The actual process of balancing a game is a small part of a games life-cycle. If the engine were to change, it would require a good years worth of development, as all artwork/sounds/interface would need to be changed accordingly. Emowilli
The only reason they have been able to develop the game so quickly is that they kept 80% of the AOK gameplay as well as the raw engine. Changing to some other RTS engine and trying to keep the gameplay the same as it is now, just would not work. I think the AOK engine is the best 2D game engine out there. I do think the Artwork Ensemble used in the game is superior. Emo
