Improvements for MI5

MI4 was my first monkey game, I thought it was good, but too short, now here's how I would improve the game in MI5.

 

1.Longer game, I thought you could go to all the islands on the map, I wrong.

 

2.More character involvement, and interaction, how about playing as Elaine in a few scenes. The crew characters have no involement at all...

Otis:I'll just stay here until your done.

I.Cheese:I have to fix the ship again. Carla:I'll just stand here and talk to otis.

Why don't the crew members help in the game? the could go off and do their own little mini adventure. And at certain times, it will say meanwhile... and you get to switch to another character.

(Could you play as other character in MI1-3?)

 

3.If a 3D card is required, they had better put some better 3D graphics, the charachter models weren't very detailed, they need more polygons, darn it! Maybe fully 3D next time, but really detailed, I didn't upgrade to a 1ghz, 256MB RAM, 64MB video card to run a game with low poly characters.

 

4.Higher resolution. I'm guessing that MI4 was playing at 640x480, quite jagged, how about some 1200x1600. Thank goodness for my Radeon that supports Full Scale Anti-Aliasing.

 

5.Mouse support.

 

6.Either fully 3D, or fully 2D, this game isn't Final Fantasy VII-IX.

Playing as another character was not possible in 1-3.

 

Personally, I hate the idea, I think it would ruin the game.

 

But my personal opinions aside, dont count on it ever being implemented. I doubt lucasarts would ever go that far in their tireless efforts to ruin the name of Monkey Island.

1. They couldn't do the extra islands, cos

 

i) It wouldn't fit the storyline

ii) The game would either require a DVD or more than 2 CD's

 

2. Monkey Island is about Guybrush... you shouldn't play as a different character without a VERY good reason... as you said, this game isn't Final Fantasy...

 

& the crew dont bother with Guybrush cos they dont have one ounce of respect for him... nobody except Elaine does smile.gif

 

3. This is a GRIME limitation... they beefed up the characters a lot, & even borrowed Obi-Wans Skeletal animation (before it was canned). Anyway, game companies build games for everybody (including people with 4 year old min-spec PC's like me), not just rich gits like you!

 

4. The game is in 640x480 for 3 reasons:

 

i) Its a GRIME limitation (& would need recoding & recompiling to change that!)

ii) As before, we dont all own A1-SUPAR pc's

iii) They didn't want to have to re-render EVERY SINGLE background (as stretching loses clarity & thousands of different sizes means more images which means more CD's which means its more expensive to buy!... catch my drift)

 

5. GRIME limitation

 

6. That would either mean going back to the inferior CMI SCUMM/Insane combo (put it this way, many of EMI's set-pieces wouldn't work in SCUMM), or building a completely new engine, which isn't really financially viable, as Adventure Games are a dying bread

big flippin deal, they have to put it on more than 2 cds!! ive played many games with more than 2 cds whats so wrong with that!

1) The game spends longer in duplication, meaning longer we have to wait

 

2) The game can retail for upto £5-£10 compared to other games depending on the amount of media included...

 

EMI retails here in the UK for £29.99 RRP

Baldurs Gate 2 (6 CD's i think) retails for £39.99 RRP...

 

if EMI had 3-4 CD's, it would have been around £34-£36 RRP! It really does increase the cost of things when more is included...

game price is determined by all things BUT cd quantity, stupid invaders will be out soon and its 4 cds, i heard its gonna retail for $30.

 

besides im sure a ten dollar increas in price for more game is what many people would want.
