Light on Ground problems

The lighting in many of my maps comes out very strange, with shadows of stuff that just plain isn't there, but when making one of my first outdoor night time maps, i put in street lights that used a light entity to light the area. I put in a flat brush on the ground for a street and then the bottom of my hollowed box has a ground texture, the other walls have the byss skybox shader applied, the problem comes when I compile and run the map, all the lighting looks fine, the street lamps, the road brush, and the buildings, but the very bottom brush, the bottom of my room with the ground texture, which is a very big brush (about 8000x8000) is totally unaffected by any lighting that is applied to the map, the entity lights and a light shader. The ground remains black while other areas have light, however the ground is affected by the dynamic light of a lightsaber. I don't know what's going on with this floor and I would like to know!
