Vegard Aune
^^^^ Well, duh - we all "overlooked" it since it's cut from the game My point is that the while the Remote vs. GOTO scene, the subsequent HK-47 vs. GOTO scene cannot be, since it would require the HK factory first to establish the context. Otherwise the HK-51s spring right out of nowhere with utter convenience, which is always disappointing plotwise. I believe there is a "canon" explaination to that, where they simply replaced the HK-51s with HK-50 units. As we have never seen the different generations meet in-game, that could work, as we don't know how they would react to each others.
Jediphile
How can that be canon when the scene isn't even in the game?!?!? I mean, sure, they could do that, but they'd still need the HK factory to establish the context.
The Source
Jediphile - I was in Barnes and Nobel the other day, and I read through the NEW Droid Essentials Guide. I read up on the HK Factory, and it does mention about the Exile visiting it on Telos. The funny thing is that the Characters Essentials Guide does not mention Exile or Revan. I wonder if they are out of date. The Droid Factory was not listed. There was a mention about the 'HK & GoTo-Malacore event'. The Droid Planet's demise is a skeptical subject. Jediphile
The New Essential Guide to Droids is still a fairly recent publication. Even were the Characters Guide published in an updated version (which I doubt), I thnk they would probably still leave Exile and Revan out, since their genders and alignments are still subject to player preference. So leaving them out would be choosing the road with the least problems (or else they'll have people moaning about the decision here, of which we already have plenty). What we can conclude is that the HK factory is considered canonic, since the New Essential Guide to Droids makes note of it. Would you agree that its removal from the game is therefore not an editorial decision, given its canonic status? The droid planet is speculative, I agree. After all, Obsidian cut it before they ever finished writing the plot for it. IIRC, several ideas were moved to other planets, and as a result the M4-78 Restoration Project (the group working to restore the planet) has had to actually write their own plot, unlike TSLRP, which is merely restoring cut stuff "as intended by Obsidian". Since there was so much work done to the HK-Factory, I could also speculate that it was cut last minute. I would have to agree that it was cut last second, for they might not have had enough time. Malacore is an editing nightmare. As I keep digging into the files, I can see how someone either mistakenly left certain things in, or they accidently removed certain items. I can't make heads or tails as to why things are the way they are. I can't say it was a 'time restraint' problem with Malacore; however, I can say it is definately a massive edditing issue. Mira's and Hannhar's encounter feels like "Hey. I knew I forgot to edit a scene out." GoTo Vrs. Droid Vrs. HK encounter was also one of those moments mentioned in the Essentials book. If they removed the HK Factory from game, this is one of those, "Hey. I Knew I forgot to remove this" type of editing issue. Not visually seeing your companions at the end was not a 'time restraint' issue. I think someone said, "Since Kreia is filling in the blanks, we don't need this moment anymore." Not everything was removed for 'time restraint' issues. There are definately some events that were removed for other reasons. Editting, story, etc... tbl
I could be wrong about all of the following: If you played the game straight through, covered all the dialouge, you will notice that you should only have a few questions: 1. (LS) Where is the Exile going? 2. (DS) Did the Exile survive Malacore? 3. What happened to Revan? 4. What happened to the rest of your party on Malachor, where are they? 5. Why was the party's confrontation with Traya scrapped, from what I heard - it sounded interesting? This would answer no. 4 6. Why is the ending, Kreia reading your party's future? Anti-climatic. 7. Why does the remote's message talk as if Boa Dur is dead, unless he died in the droid factory. 8. Why couldn't Kreia read Boa's future, unless he died? -This was explained because Kreia could read Boa earlier. But why? Having powerful mind reading abilities (refer to Atton). This was added mostly likely to cover up the aforementioned question. 9. The door (blue line on map) in the Military base on Telos that was supposed to lead to the factory. If the droid factory wasn't cut due to time constraints, why wasn't it fixed? Obsidian wouldn't of been that careless --- You can tell the difference between things that have been cut due to choice or due to time. Time: Droid factory, other parts of ending. These were only cut late into devlopment, and files still remained. (You can say, this is not solely evidence - but it does look that way) Choice: Atris as a party member, Handmaiden and Visas joining you based on Light or Dark alignments respectively. All though there is no definitive proof that the game was incomplete, the absence of evidence - isn't evidence of absence. (I like that line, even for a cliche)
