Guest The Feral Chicken
Isn't it? Fair enough. I warez anyway; but only after I have exhausted all alleyways! And usually only because of scratched/lost discs of games I DO own! ------------------ Buckbuckbuck BWAAAK!!
MegaMonkey
Abandonwarez is illegal no matter what you say. The legal full version games are named "Freeware". I think Abandonwarez should be legalized; make it legal, so that games like SMI could be played ( well, maybe it is in shops somewhere but not here where I live... ), or Frederik Pohl's Gateway ( a great text-graphic adventure ) and so on. Abandonwarez is kinda two bladed sword. Other players think it as legal and go with it, some players think it's illegal ( but still go with it ); I for one. So that makes me a pirate. It is time to step abroad! ------------------
Pauly Shaw
I think it should be legal, because those kind of games are pretty hard to find anywhere else. ------------------ All hell cannot stop.... Pauly Shaw!!! MWHAHAHAHAHAH!
MagnusB
Most companies put the game out for free after like five years. which I think is good. Imagine in 20 years: List: 00000ABC-games 011DDS ... MI1 MI2 MI3 MI4 MI5 MI6 Coming up: MI7 and MI8 Maybe ------------------ Guybrush: Do you know anything about lifting curses? Murray: Oh Yeah, I know a lot about lifting curses. That is why I am a disembodied talking skull, sitting on top of a pike, in the middle a swamp. Guybrush: You seem bitter. Rufio
anything "warez" is illegal, but abandon"ware" is not, when software companies quit producing specific copies of a game, it is legal to download it, (i read an artical somewhere about this, but i forget the exact details) ------------------ Humpty Dumpty had a great fall...but a terrible spring. MegaMonkey
hmmm... abandonwarez is only legal if the gamecompanies have said a game can be downloaded freely on net. I think MI2 isn't abandonwarez, for example, as you can still find it in shops; from bounty-packs and Lucasarts collections. So the line between abandonwarez and warez is often really shallow.. beware not to become a pir8! ------------------
MagnusB
But I do want to be a pirate. ------------------ Guybrush: Do you know anything about lifting curses? MegaMonkey
there's a difference between a pirate and a pir8, the last one meaning a computer-hacker-game-copier guy. I suggest you to join the pirate-crew of ours, not the pir8-crew! You're always welcome aboard, and you're always welcome to talk with me. ------------------

MagnusB
Well I saw somewhere else on this message board that someone said that LEC had abandoned MI1. Not sure where. ------------------ Guybrush: Do you know anything about lifting curses? Murray: Oh Yeah, I know a lot about lifting curses. Rufio
usually games in series, that have a chance for more sequels do not become ababndon ware untill the series ends. and since lec still sells the "lucas arts game packs" they are not abandoned yet. Frenchyd
I did download SMI and LCR, but only because i had exausted myself looking for the disks my brother had bought YEARS ago, and looking in the stores. I would never download EMI or anything, because that's available in stores!!!!! P.S. Anyone know where I can buy CMI??? ------------------ ---- Frenchy ---- "So thats your game huh? MegaMonkey
Frenchyd: you're allowed to download the games from net if you have bought the originals, and if your brother has, then you haven't done anything illegal. BTW. downloading an abandonwarez game isn't illegal if you delete it within 24 hours My dad bought LCR years ago when it was new and fresh; I gotta admit that the box is very cool! But now one disk is missing so I've downloaded into my computer as well... ------------------
