bluewhale
I finally purchased a copy of KOTOR, and played through it once despite both massive graphical and framerate issues on my computer. However, I'd really like to be able to enjoy the game as it was intended, as well as play the second one at some point, but it seems like there's no good reason that the framerate is so awful. I was finally able to fix the graphical errors, and was hoping the framerate problem would also go away, but alas, that was not the case. My computer meets all the minimum requirements, and all the recommended save one, where it has a geforce 3 instead of 4. Still, this seems like it shouldn't have many framerate issues at all. I've been running the game on the lowest settings, but changing them doesn't seem to affect anything at all. The response from LucasArts was to upgrade the video card, which I considered, but decided to wait on. Having suffered through reading more than my share of forum tech posts trying to find answers to the graphic distortion problem, it seemed that a lot of other people, even those with computers and video cards twice as fast as mine were still having framerate issues or other random problems. Those posts made me not entirely confident that buying a new video card would guarantee all those issues would go away... and while the KOTOR series are some of the only games EVER that has made me consider upgrading my computer just to play them, I thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone had any ideas. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this. Here's the SWINFO, but first two notes: I'm using an older video driver because the newest NVIDIA driver broke functionality with KOTOR, and was causing the graphics issues. Also, the SWINFO lists my sound card as the onboard nForce audio, but I have a SoundBlaster Audigy, and have the nForce disabled under the device manager. Not sure why it shows up here. If posting the DXDIAG might help too, I can do that, but I'll wait to see if anyone actually replies, first. Thanks again.
