MysteryGoat
Is it possible to remove the smoke and fog effects? Everything in both games run great except when I run into the fog/smoke effects, it slows down to a crawl. It really is a nuisance, it's like the first time I tried K1 on a system with 256mb of ram, it's quite unpleasant. If it's not possible that's cool, but I thought I'd give it a shot and ask. If it can be removed, it would definitely make the experience a lot more enjoyable.
m16965
To be honest i have no idea at all but i would say it is probably hardcoded. I also suffer a similar problem and would love an awnser.
stoffe
It depends on what type of fog/smoke you mean. If it's from force powers, grenades etc then it's set in visualeffects.2da. If it's placeable effects (such as a patch of fog in a tomb etc) then they are models set in placeables.2da. However, if it's part of the area model itself then I don't think there is much that can be done currently.
Master Zionosis
I know this seams like the simplest option but have you tried actually going into the game option's and lowering the quality of the texture's and anti aliasing, coz i had to do that on my old PC coz on peragus in the gas tunnels, i walked though the bit where you get hurt if you dont where a shield and the game slowed down and everything got jittery, but when i changed the game options it made it allot better. m16965
I almost forgot that there is a scripting function to change the colour of the fog! void main() { SetAreaFogColor( object oArea, float fRed, float fGreen, float fBlue ); }
MysteryGoat
I don't have any saves that are anywhere close to fog, but I tried lowering the texture's and AA on the menu screen and it did help. However, having to raise and lower the visuals every time I encounter some smoke or fog would get old very quickly. Even if all of them can't be removed, the rest should be enough the make the game easier to move around in.
