(newbie) lip syncing help (TSL) and questions unrelated to lip syncing

Hello. I have a simple question that might, in fact, require a very complex answer. I am trying to edit a few dialog lines into Kreia's dialog, (which was a complete success) however, my problem is lip syncing. I followed many different tutorials on this down to the letter but everything I do seems to not work. (not to mention I have been trying this for 3 or 4 days now and I'd like to finish my mod at least this year. :) ) So, I was wondering if someone would mind giving me an in depth answer of how to lip sync these lines? I'm hoping to compare what I have done with the process as it is meant to be done in order to see if its a lip syncing issue or if I just completely screwed up from the beginning. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

ADDITION:

I also noticed a post from someone named ShadowsAllience who has been banned for trying to release mods that were not legal. I'm new to the forum so I don't know quite yet how to "quote" so i'll put it well seperate from what I type.

quote "I have most of the mods off PCGAMEMODS.COM for KOTOR and KOTOR II and have in my collection some rarer and harder to find mods such as the "AIOFPM" and the "Manaan Fish Fest", therefore i'm providing a link to download them to get the mods back into the community."end quote.

I have been to PCGAMEMODS.com for downloads without success. and if this is not allowed I will remove it but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of mods I'm missing and who made them? I want to go through the right people so I'm not taking unauthorized copies. Maybe there is another site that is hosting them and I just don't know about it. If that is so, does anyone know what it is? thanks.

Hi, welcome to LucasForums. :wavey:

How are you getting your LIP files, are you re-using existing ones from other dialog, or are you creating new ones for your new voice over sounds using jdNoa's LipSync editor?

In either case you should name the LIP file the same as the WAV file containing the voiceover sound. Then you set the name of the WAV and LIP file in the VO_ResRef field of the dialog node where you want the voiceover to be used, and make sure the Sound Exists toggle is set.

Put the WAV file in the StreamVoice folder and put the LIP file inside the module file (RIM or MOD) where the dialog it belongs to is used. The game tends to put them in separate MOD files within the lip folder, but this is not necessary. They will work fine if you pack them with the rest of the module data. If you're editing an existing game module and not a new one you can put it in the modulename_loc.mod file (named the same as the module) in the lip folder instead for consistency.

If you're adding new alien voiceover it works the same way, except you set the filename in the alienvo.2da file instead of each DLG node separately. I.e. if you put AVO_HuttAngS1 as a sound in this file, you should have a AVO_HuttAngS1.wav file with the sound and a AVO_HuttAngS1.lip file with the lipsync data.

For the record shadowsallience was banned for other reasons unrelated to this.

But it's just considered common courtesy in this modding community to ask someone who has made a mod first before it's uploaded somewhere. It's a matter of respecting the work others have put into making those mods and sharing them with others, not legal issues. :)

While PCGameMods by far contains the biggest collection of mods for the KOTOR games there are a few other sites which host a bunch of mods instead. While PCGameMods was up and running without problems it saw most use by the community, but since it's been having problems for more than a year by now modders tend to be submitting their work to these other sites more often. The most commonly used ones are LucasFiles and KotorFiles.com. Some modders have their own sites as well where they keep their mods. Many of those sites are listed in the first post of this thread.

As for accessing the mods only hosted at PCGameMods this can still be done if you manage to find the page for them in Google's Cache. If so you can get a direct link to download the files, which still seems to work last I checked. See this thread for requesting such mods.
