Fix original Peragus mining droid models?

By editing appearance.2da, it's possible to put the original models for the mining droids on Peragus in the game. However, they do not fire their guns. They do the animation, but no blaster bolts come out. Is there a way to fix the models for the mining droids so they actually attack? It especially looks bad in the hologram where Coorta and his men are killed by Mining droids, as they do not get killed and stand there in the "horror" animation. I have no model-related skills yet, so I am hoping someone with more knowledge can help.
