THE CHARBONNETT CHRONICLES

PROLOGUE

 

A husky man holding a bundled blanket in one hand and his other hand tugging the hand of a little boy walks fast through a forest.It is dawn and he knows he must hurry.The little boy is half awake but knows not to ask why he was woken so early,and why his dad is holding a baby,that definitialy doesn't belong to them, in a blanket .The boy notices the blanket has the royal sign : a cro and a dove.Now the boy is nervous.He wonders what his father has got them into now.Then they stop near a lake.A silver cloaked figure appears out of the water.

The figure reaches out one hand and caresses the baby's forehead.The boy notices the hand is from a female.The boy then sees a ring on her hand,the ring has rubies around it with a living rose in the middle.The baby seems entranced by the ring and gurgles.The cloaked lady motions her other hand to the oy.Suddenly a portal opens behind the boy.The lady then says"Protect the kingdoms like you promised."

"Yes Milady,"The boy's father says.He then turns to the boy"Come now m son,you always wanted to see what the other worlds looked like.He-he-he"

The father goes through the portal, still holding the baby.

The boy looks back at the cloaked lady.He can not see her face but swears he sees a blood red tear drop from inside the cloak that hides her to the water in the lake where she still stands.Now more than ever he wonders what his dad has done as he now enters the portal.

Nicely done. There were only 3 typos that I found. But, other than that, it's a good prologue.
