dialog.tlk Editing help

@DarthJebus05, I don't believe Hando said anything about editing a dialog... ;)

@Hando, download TLKEd from http://www.starwarsknights.com/tools.php and use it to open dialog.tlk. Then from the Tools menu, select New Entry... and enter the name of the new force power. You only need to enter text in the "Entry Text" field -- leave all the other fields alone. Take note of the new entry number as you'll need that later. Click save.

Now do it again for force power description and again take note of the new entry number.

Then go to File: Save As... and save dialog.tlk into your override folder.

Next open spells.2da and in the spells.2da row that represents your force power, and change the field called "name" to the number of the dialog.tlk entry of where you saved the name. Then in the field called "spelldesc", set it equal to the number of the dialog.tlk entry of where you saved the description. Then save the spells.2da file in your override also.

More information about spells.2da editing can be found here: http://lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=130898

Not really. The dialog.tlk is sequential and contiguous with its reference numbers. You'd have to pad the dialog.tlk with blank entries to get to your custom number.

Why do you want a custom number? If it is because you planned on distributing this mod and want to avoid conflict, I would suggest using TSLPatcher which can automatically adjust your dialog.tlk entry and spells.2da reference to coincide with the users' dialog.tlk.
