boe6ie
hi guys i just bought grim fandango today for windows xp. but always when i star it, an error occurs ("problem detected"). i patched the game to v 1.01 but it does not help. with the "grim launcher" programm i can start the game(but only in windowed mode), but the sound goes crazy and always repeats itself and if i chose my graphiccard under the settings, i get graphic bugs . when i start it with grim launcher or normally, and choose "software" as hardware renderer, there are graphic bugs, in windowed mode there are sound bugs(repetitions of sound, without sopping) i also tried residual; and i can play fullscreened with software mode, withour graphic or sound bugs, but manny doesnt move his head if there are things he could use, and additionally residual only works till a certain point of the game... so i hope anybody of you know anything, i already posted in different forums, but nobody could help me my system Intel Core 2 Duo e4300 Sparkle 8600GT (256MB) A-Data 2048 MB Memory Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard Windows XP with Service Pack2 and all new fixes
VinceXombie
I've got a Duo Processor as well and I also had some problems. I did a bit of digging and found that this may solve it. Open up the Start Menu and select Run. Type in msconfig and hit Ok. In the window that pops up select the Boot.INI tab Click on Advanced Options. Check the box next to /NUMPROC= and make sure the value is 1 You're going to need to reboot after making this change. Try running the game again. (this also fixed weird stuttering in movies and Sound errors in game for me)
